Tim Thayne, LMFT
Clinical Director of Aftercare
Telos has appointed Dr. Tim Thayne — founder and CEO of Trustyy — as Clinical Director of Aftercare. A licensed marriage and family therapist with master’s and doctoral degrees from Brigham Young University and Virginia Tech, Tim has spent his career developing innovations aimed at protecting treatment progress and improving long-term outcomes for adolescents and their families. His earlier work includes Outback Therapeutic Expeditions and Homeward Bound — early programs in wilderness therapy and post-treatment family support — and the books Taking the Reins and Not by Chance, widely used by families during and after treatment. Trustyy, the clinical platform he founded and leads, is the latest of these efforts and may prove to be the most significant — bringing research-backed tools, structured guidance, and ongoing coaching directly into the daily life of the family.
Traditional aftercare ends with a discharge packet and a few follow-up calls. Telos’s continuing care model spans the full arc of treatment. Parents engage in structured preparation before discharge. At the point of transition, the Trustyy Transition Planner places the adolescent as primary author of the plan — whether returning home or stepping into a next setting — with parents contributing input and therapists providing clinical guidance. After discharge, ongoing parent groups and one-on-one coaching sustain engagement and clinical continuity well beyond the treatment episode.
When not working, Tim and his wife Roxanne enjoy their five children, grandchildren, horses, sheep, and a competitive game of cornhole.
